John joined Bryden Wood in 2010 after graduating from his Part 1 Architecture degree.

Initially he worked on data input for the Circle Reading Hospital project, creating a database of the hospital using ADB (Activities Data Base). Once established, the information contained in the database grew including much more detailed information on activities of the room i.e., electrical, mechanical, furniture, equipment and fixtures, requiring interaction with various experts such as the medical planner. By using tools like ScriptPro to streamline and automate much of the drawing production process John created a concise database containing not only text based information but also drawings of each room along with equipment and their code which, with the equipment list, allowed you to identify each piece of equipment required. The plan drawings of all the rooms were placed in the CAD plan drawing of the project, adding details and additional information.

In the Summer of 2011 John journeyed across the Atlantic on a wild adventure east to west of America, visiting architectural gems such as Phillips Exeter Academy Library, the Kimbell Art Center, Falling Water and Seattle Public Library. On return he went to Kingston University for his Part 2 Architecture.

John re-joined Bryden Wood in the autumn of 2013, immediately starting work on the Front End Factory project for GlaxoSmithKline (GSK). He begun by assisting with producing slides for the COGs (Cost of Goods) reports and learning about the COGs model, before moving on to work with Revit to produce digital presentation
of equipment. He then worked on the CHIPs which required working within a system developed by Bryden Wood to define a spatial area containing equipment for a particular process in a GSK factory.

John’s Revit skills have developed greatly leading to him working on GSK Beta building, for which he has modelled components, produced drawings of components, and sifted through the schedules checking and adding data for components.

His experience on Beta Building has led to working on the Flexible Construction System. This system involves a series component to construct the building, with John modelling the components and working on the construction sequence. He is currently working on automating the drawing production process to produce automatic sequence drawings for the system.
