José María is a structural engineering and architect.

He is responsible for the global structural project development: design, calculation, interdisciplinary coordination, models and graphic deliverables generation, technical assistance to contractors... He joined the team at Bryden Wood in October 2017 (at the time when the Barcelona office opened), having previously worked for several years as a Structural Engineer, at both a London based architectural firm and at an engineering company in Madrid. He brings with him his experience of working on the structural design of a variety of different buildings, including several large scale residential buildings and additional concrete and steel building structures.

Due to his architectural background and his specialisation in the design and calculation of building structures, José has a broad perspective across both disciplines, which enables him to combine the key elements of structural engineering work and architectural design aims. This perspective, is helpful when facing the challenge of designing a building structure, while maintaining or strengthening the architectural essence.

His earlier career and his structural vision, coupled with his numerical and analytical skills, help him to solve a wide range of complex structural problems. He is also an expert in stiffness matrix method and finite element method calculation software, which are useful when analysing the performance of different complex structures.

During his time at Bryden Wood, José has been involved in the design and calculation of a new large Data Centre facility in Dublin and a single storey data centre prototype intended to be deployed to multiple sites. Besides, he worked on the structure for Circle Birmingham Hospital, a Car Park adjacent to the Igus factory in Cologne, and a 12500m² office development in central London following a platform concept design.
