Job description: 

Reporting to Principal Engineers or Associate Director(s), you will be responsible for the operational delivery of Data Centre projects in Spain ensuring a high standard of engineering in accordance with our standards and procedures.

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day tasks associated with mechanical engineering and mission-critical projects.

This role is located in Barcelona or Madrid with flexibility for some remote work.

Bryden Wood Barcelona/Madrid is looking for an Senior to Associate Mechanical Engineer to join our international, dynamic MEP team. Our integrated teams work across a broad range of sectors and we are looking for Engineer who can work on multiple projects concurrently, at varying stages of development - from concept through to delivery. You will work closely with our Architects, Structural and Civils Engineers to develop complex and exciting projects. You will also bring your specialist knowledge to work in direct contact with our clients, to enable collaboration and rapid scheme development.

We require Applicants to work on a series of new projects, which include:

  • Data Centres
  • Mission critical facilities

Essential requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical, Building Services or Industrial Engineering ideally from a Spanish University.
  • Chartered Engineer Status.
  • Minimum of 3 years working within Mission Critical Projects in Spain/Europe.
  • Experience in Construction/ Consulting for mission critical projects.
  • Previous experience in Spain is required
  • Full knowledge of Mechanical Technical design for all RIBA stages. Including carrying out calculations, Concept development, Project coordination, H&S and Risk management and project delivery.
  • Leadership and mentoring experience.
  • Supporting the project team in the delivery of a project including project management, Financial, Technical and following company QA/QC procedures.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and co-ordinate projects to meet all required deadlines.
  • Undertake engineering activities as required and where appropriate act as Design Team Leader.
  • Write Technical documents.
  • Produce HVAC calculations
  • Implement and comply with quality management plans to support and contribute to the firm’s long-term strategy.
  • Inform, communicate and promote the standards required within our internal quality management systems.
  • Continually improve standards and quality of designs to achieve successful design and delivery of projects.
  • Act as Job Runner when required.
  • Support the Company management by taking on duties as agreed with the Associate/Associate Director or Director and provide any reports requested.
  • Work closely with other members of the Team in sharing information including knowledge, strategies, and successes.
  • Appropriate administration, monitoring, reporting, communication, and liaison.
  • Input into project programmes to allow senior colleagues to resource projects adequately.
  • Contribute to the design and delivery of projects under the direction of senior colleagues.
  • Take responsibility for specific areas of the design and project development.
  • Understand the basis of the fee for the project.
  • Advise on any duties over and above the agreed fee basis on projects that you are involved in.
  • Maintain regular contact with existing Clients and build on existing relationships in conjunction with business development.
  • Ensure client satisfaction to secure repeat business.
