An exceptional placement opportunity

Bryden Wood is a leading international company of creative technologists, designers, architects, engineers and analysts. We’re shaping the future of construction by bringing integrated expertise, innovation, deep experience, open minds and creativity to unravel the most complex problems and create exceptional, sustainable design solutions – all for a better built environment.

We are leaders in the theory and practice of Modern Methods of Construction (MMC), the Platform approach to Design for Manufacture and Assembly (P-DfMA), generative design, creative technologies, integrated design and automation in construction.

As a placement engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to work in a cutting-edge and fast-paced design environment, collaborating with – and learning from – the multiple disciplines across the company. Our projects range from railways to hospitals to large scale residential developments to carbon-neutral office buildings.

We want our placement engineers to get the most from their time with us – so we will support you every step of the way.

About the role:

You will work in our London office in the Civil and Structural engineering departments, on a variety of projects across a range of industries. We will give you responsibility for contributing to designs, including drawing work, calculations and report writing. You will also have the opportunity to visit live sites and participate in meetings with design teams and clients.

We are an integrated company, so you’ll work closely with other disciplines, as part of a team that’s driving efficiency, innovation and effectiveness in design solutions.

About you:

We’d like you to be proactive, curious, and excited by problem-solving. You’ll need good analytical ability and to be able and willing to work well with others.

You will have:

  • Real enthusiasm for engineering design. You’ll be keen to work in a challenging design environment on both the civil and structural elements of projects.
  • Great interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team.
  • Willingness to learn modelling software, including AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Interest in emerging technologies and innovations in the construction industry.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word and Excel).

Benefits include:

  • 9-Day Fortnight (not compressed hours - we give one genuinely free rest day every fortnight with no change to salary).
  • Industry competitive salary.
  • Hybrid working from home and the office.
  • Regular performance reviews to help with your career progression.
  • 25 days annual leave.
