RAID is an open source app which accelerates the design process of alignments on a railway network.
This tool, using a generative design approach based on formulae, logic and the input from rail engineering specialists, provides the ability to quickly assess the rail network and explore the ‘route’ performance of different route options on ‘macro’ scale. Macro level solutions refer to adjustments on existing routes or suggestions of new alignments. The user can create multiple scenarios, which can be explored through series of dashboards.
The result is a fully integrated digital design model that provides significant production efficiencies across the asset lifecycle and fully supports a projects business case and objectives.
RAID was developed by Bryden Wood through Innovate UK funding and in collaboration with Costain and Network Rail.
