One of Bryden Wood’s longest ongoing projects is a factory complex in Cologne, Germany for international plastics component manufacturer igus.
Since the first phase in 1992, the factory has been expanded in a series of phases: Phase 7 increased the existing 24,000m² floor area to 32,000m² high-quality factory space, at a cost of €14m.

The original modular, industrial aesthetic was maintained including the 86m high yellow pylons which have become part of the igus branding. igus produces ‘high tech’ plastic products requiring the rapid expansion and constant modification of the building fabric: the building is constructed almost entirely from components developed by Bryden Wood allowing complete flexibility for expansion and the reconfiguration of door openings, windows and internal spaces.
